No, that is not a Latin phrase even though being a classical school we love Latin. Jehovah jireh is actually a Hebrew name of God meaning “The Lord, Our provider.” At CCA we have seen God be our provider over and over again.
We cannot give a tour of the school without pausing at the computer lab to share a story of God’s provision. When our school was first starting out, our board had received some seed money for
individuals who shared our vision for starting a Christian school in
Abingdon. We wanted a computer lab, but decided at a board meeting in August to wait until the first few months of school were completed to see if that still fit our budget.
But God had other plans. We got a call on Monday from one company saying that they wanted to donate 12 computers and keyboards. We got a call later that week from another company who donated 12 monitors, and then finished the week with a third donation from another company who donated 3 printers. Jehovah jireh! Apparently God wanted us to have a lab from day one.
Recently, we have been almost overwhelmed as God has been Jehovah jireh to us once again. We have been painting and cleaning and moving into some new spaces at Abingdon Bible Church. We have been leasing their facility since 2011, and they agreed this spring to allow us to have use of additional space. We will have a larger room for our library, a permanent place for our music program, two more
classrooms, office space, and a perfect area for our new after school program. Jehovah jireh!
So now we are waiting for him to provide for us again. We already have 15 new students for next year.
We are praying for 10 more new students to contact us to begin the process of admissions. We received four calls on Monday.
Some of our prospective parents are waiting to see Jehovah jireh intervene in their lives, too. Paying tuition is a new concept to some families and definite a budget stretcher for most of us. But each year our parents stop by the office to share how God has met that tuition need every time. Sometimes it is through a tax refund or bonus. Sometimes a grandparent decides to help out. (Psalm 78).
But always we know who it is who is working behind the scenes with plans for us (Jeremiah 29:11). He
always provides. We can call on His name: Jehovah jireh. Please join us in prayer for all our new families as they wait expectantly to see how Jehovah jireh will show up for them this year. We can’t wait to hear their stories this spring.
** You are welcome to join us for our summer Open House this Thursday, July 25th at 6:30 in the gym.
This is a great opportunity to meet our staff, view our curriculum, see our classrooms and ask your questions. We hope to see you there! **
